D-Day. 72 Years ago today.

72 years ago the Allies invaded France and just over a year later, World War II was over.

An amphibious landing is the most difficult military operation to conduct. Add on top of that the largest airborne assault ever conducted. 6 June 1944 was truly the Day of Days.

Let’s take a moment to remember those who participated, from the soldiers, sailors and airmen in the actual invasion, to the members of the French Resistance, to the civilians who supported them, to the women at Bletchley decoding, to the spouses and parents and children of those in harms way.
