How quickly can a group disintegrate into murder and worse?

By worse, I mean eating each other. And we’re not talking Zombies here.

Researching the story of the Donner Party was fascinating. The wrong decisions, the lack of leadership and then the homicides that preceded the final event where they were trapped in the Sierra Nevadas is a case study in what not to do. But also in how quickly a group can fall apart. Something to think about if a large-scale disaster breaks down social order, which will happen faster than most people realize.
