On President’s & Nuclear Launch Codes

President Ronald Reagan’s launch codes ended up on the floor of the emergency room after he was shot.

President Jimmy Carter sent his launch codes out with the laundry. And he’d been part of the start of the nuclear submarine program under Rickover.

President Nixon’s access to launch was severed during the end of his presidency as aides saw him drinking heavily after being impeached because of Watergate.

General Curtis LeMay was very keen on a preemptive nuclear strike on the Soviet Union and President Kennedy had to work hard to keep him in check, particularly during the Cuba Missile Crisis when he wanted to nuke Cuba.
