The 1800 Presidential Election.

This is from the hotly contested election between two Founding Fathers: Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Both were on the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration of Independence (although Jefferson did most of the heavy lifting).

Jefferson was “Godless” because he supported the separation of church and state. Adams was accused of supporting only the rich and wanting to bring back the monarchy.

Jefferson’s running mate was Aaron Burr, who ended up meeting Alexander Hamilton in New Jersey. Perhaps we’ll see some drama like this?
